President Mahama to account to Ghanaians on his 120-day Social Contract tonight

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communications, has made an announcement. President John Dramani Mahama will address Ghanaians tonight. He will discuss his 120-day social contract. The broadcast will be live on TV and radio at 8:30 PM.

In a post on X, Felix Kwakye Ofosu wrote about the upcoming address. He emphasized that President Mahama will account to the nation during this time.

President Mahama's return to office has been busy. His administration is working hard to fulfill key campaign promises. In the first 120 days, he has made significant progress in various areas.

Some notable achievements include:
- Launching the Mahama Cares social protection framework.
- Introducing a free sanitary pad initiative for schoolgirls.
- Starting the One Million Coders Programme to enhance digital skills among youth.
- Initiating the Adwumawura Programme for job creation.
- Providing free tertiary education for persons with disabilities.
- Reviving tourism through the Black Star Experience program.
- Restructuring loss-making State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) for efficiency.
- Offering seed money for the Women’s Development Bank.
- Establishing the Accelerated Export Development Council.
- Investigating the Akosombo dam spillage that affected many people.

Meanwhile, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, minority leader in parliament, criticized the NDC's performance. He claimed they have created two Ghanas in just 120 days. According to him, one Ghana benefits them and their party while another is for their perceived enemies.

Afenyo-Markin expressed disappointment with the NDC-led administration. He stated that it has been a period of regret and dissatisfaction. He highlighted issues such as mass dismissals of state employees after they took office.

He noted that teachers and nurses faced similar challenges with their employment status. Afenyo-Markin mentioned Haruna Iddrisu's statement about validating teachers but saw no evidence of reinstatement.

He also criticized the NDC's promise of creating jobs through a "one job, three shifts" model. Afenyo-Markin argued that there is currently no clear policy direction for private sector growth.

In summary, President Mahama will address Ghanaians tonight regarding his social contract achievements and challenges faced during his first 120 days in office.
