President John Dramani Mahama has warned Muslim youth about reckless driving. This warning comes during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
He spoke at an event organized by the National Chief Imam in Accra. President Mahama said dangerous behaviors can lead to unnecessary loss of lives.
He noted that Eid-ul-Fitr is a time for unity and joy. However, it should not be spoiled by actions that risk lives. “Ramadan is a period of togetherness, not recklessness,” he stated.
The President urged young people to celebrate responsibly. He emphasized the importance of avoiding danger to themselves and others.
To tackle this issue, President Mahama instructed police to be vigilant. He wants strict action against offenders during the celebrations.
He pointed out that past Ramadan festivities saw tragic accidents from reckless riding and driving. “I urge our brothers who engage in this to stop,” he cautioned.
He added, “I have asked the police to deal with you if you flout this, and you will be arrested.”
