President John Dramani Mahama has called for fast-track courts. These courts would handle cases of public fund misappropriation.
He spoke during a visit from the Ghana Bar Association (GBA). He expressed concern over billions lost due to financial mismanagement. Delays in the justice system weaken deterrence and allow corruption to thrive.
The president believes swift prosecution can recover lost funds. It would also serve as a warning against financial misconduct.
He urged GBA members to actively scrutinise government policies. Accountability is crucial for national development, he said.
Mahama encouraged civil society organisations, including the GBA, to voice concerns. This should happen whenever governance goes wrong. He stressed that constructive criticism helps create a transparent and responsible government.
