Labour expert Austin Gamey has called for stronger leadership in addressing the illegal mining (galamsey) crisis in Ghana.
He suggested that President Akufo-Addo and the opposition party’s flagbearer jointly lead efforts to combat the environmental threat.
Speaking on JoyNews on September 12, Gamey emphasized the need for high-level leadership, not leaving the issue to a single minister.
His proposal aligns with other stakeholders, such as Dr. Ken Ashigbey of the Media Coalition Against Galamsey, who urged the president to tackle galamsey with the same urgency as the COVID-19 pandemic.
