The Electoral Commission (EC) has dismissed claims by Kumasi-based broadcaster Oheneba Nana Asiedu that voting for presidential candidates will occur on separate days during the December general elections.
The EC clarified in a statement on Sunday, November 24, that the elections will be held nationwide on December 7, 2024, from 7 am to 5 pm.
Asiedu, accused of spreading false information, was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police on November 23 and later granted bail.
The Ghana Police Service labeled his comments, which circulated on social media, as false and potentially disruptive to public peace.
The EC urged voters to disregard the misinformation and encouraged a high turnout on election day, emphasizing the importance of an orderly voting process.
