Private citizen petitions CHRAJ over Sammy Gyamfi's dollar-sharing incident

Eric Dumenu Akatsi has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). He claims Mr. Samuel Gyamfi, CEO of Goldbod, displayed suspicious wealth.

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Videos show Mr. Gyamfi gifting bundles of US dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa while in his Range Rover.

In his petition, Mr. Akatsi cited Article 218(e) of Ghana's 1992 Constitution. This article allows CHRAJ to investigate suspected corruption by public officials.

He wrote as a concerned citizen with a civic duty. He expressed worries about potential financial impropriety linked to Mr. Gyamfi.

Mr. Akatsi described the dollar-gifting act as “a clear instance of alleged engagement in suspected corruption.”

He also claimed that Mr. Gyamfi has two private bank accounts at Consolidated Bank Ghana. These include a dollar account and a cedi account with over One Hundred Million Ghana Cedis.

According to the petition, these large deposits are recent developments. The accounts had no substantial inflows before Mr. Gyamfi gained political prominence.

“It is important to understand,” Akatsi stated, “that Mathematics leads to one conclusion — these are signs of suspected corruption.”

He urged CHRAJ to investigate the source of Mr. Gyamfi’s wealth and the dollar-gifting incident thoroughly.

“I believe your office will give this petition the attention it deserves,” Akatsi concluded.

As of now, neither Sammy Gyamfi nor Goldbod has publicly responded to these allegations.
