Eric Dumenu Akatsi has withdrawn his petition to CHRAJ. He initially sought an investigation into Acting Gold Board CEO Sammy Gyamfi. This decision comes after President John Dramani Mahama announced no further action against Gyamfi.
Gyamfi was seen in a viral video giving dollars to evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah. This sparked public criticism and raised concerns about possible legal violations. Civil society groups and minority caucus members called for Gyamfi’s dismissal, citing a breach of public trust.
President Mahama accepted Gyamfi’s public apology and closed the matter with a warning. In a letter dated May 14, 2025, Akatsi informed CHRAJ of his decision to withdraw the petition.
He referenced his original submission from May 13, 2025, regarding corruption allegations against Gyamfi. Akatsi stated that he believes withdrawing the petition is in everyone's best interest.
He requested CHRAJ to stop any further actions related to the case. Akatsi expressed gratitude for their time and effort in reviewing his petition. He also offered to provide additional information if needed.
