Private sector key to growth, parliament will deliver support – Ayariga

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has reaffirmed Parliament's support for President John Dramani Mahama’s economic agenda. He pledged legislative backing to promote private sector growth and job creation.

Ayariga spoke at the Kwahu Business Forum on April 19. He highlighted the importance of the private sector in national development. He assured business leaders that Parliament is aligned with their needs.

“The private sector is an engine of growth,” he said. “Business leaders are the drivers and operators of this engine.” They create jobs and innovate, which must be nurtured and sustained.

He acknowledged President Mahama’s commitment to engaging with financial and business stakeholders. Ayariga emphasized that Parliament supports initiatives for inclusive growth.

“Your Parliament—the people’s Parliament—stands ready to support your agenda,” he stated. He wants to ensure equitable job creation and overall growth.

Ayariga outlined proactive steps for Parliament. Committees will work to strengthen cooperation between ministers and businesses.

“Our committees will help identify challenges faced by enterprises,” he explained. They will recommend solutions and monitor ministers’ performance based on promises made to Ghanaians.

He also pledged that Parliament would ensure policies for enterprise development are realized across the country. “We will monitor the implementation of promises to incubate and develop enterprises,” he added.
