Probe causes of renewed violence in Bawku – Minority to security agencies

The Minority in Parliament has called for a quick investigation into the recent violence in Bawku. They want security agencies to act fast to prevent further escalation.

This appeal follows a violent clash on Thursday, April 10. The confrontation involved police and local youth, resulting in fatalities and injuries. Reports indicate that the home of Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga was set on fire during the unrest.

On Friday, April 11, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, addressed the press in Accra. He expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Bawku and urged for urgent intervention.

He stated, “We’re urging all security agencies to investigate the causes of this escalation.” He emphasized that security personnel should act with professionalism and sensitivity.

The Minority also called for a coordinated approach to achieve lasting peace in Bawku. Rev. Fordjour highlighted the need for fairness and diplomacy while considering cultural sensitivities surrounding the conflict.
