Producer of poisonous Prampram asana arrested

A vendor has been arrested for selling contaminated asana, a local corn drink. This follows a suspected food poisoning case at two basic schools in Prampram.

On Monday, April 14, over 20 pupils from Prampram D/A Basic 'B' and Methodist Freeman Basic School collapsed during class. Eyewitnesses reported distressing scenes of children running and collapsing.

Sam Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, confirmed the incident on Facebook. He stated that the vendor is assisting with the medical investigation.

“Samples have been sent to the lab to determine what went wrong,” he said. According to the MP, 22 children were affected by the incident.

Of those affected, 21 children were discharged after treatment. One child was admitted overnight for observation as a precautionary measure. This information came after consultations with local health officials.

The vendor also consumed the drink and has been hospitalized. Sam George wished the pupils a speedy recovery and thanked hospital staff for their quick response.

The community is now waiting for lab results to confirm the cause of this scare.
