Former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Stephen Adei, has cautioned President-elect John Mahama against removing Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornor and Electoral Commission (EC) Chair Jean Adukwei Mensa, warning that such actions could harm Ghana’s democratic institutions.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on December 22, Prof. Adei stressed that any political removal of the Chief Justice without just cause would have serious consequences for the country.
He also cautioned that replacing the EC Chair would set a dangerous precedent, as it could lead to the politicization of key institutions.
He urged the incoming administration to avoid undermining Ghana’s democracy for future stability.
