The Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Makafui Kofi Woanyah, stated that Prof Yayra Dzakadzie did not resign from the NPP.
He criticized Prof Dzakadzie and his supporters for misleading the public. Woanyah accused them of showing greed and ingratitude towards President Akufo-Addo and the NPP.
“Prof Dzakadzie should be seen as a dangerous element,” he said. He questioned why someone would reject a party after benefiting from it.
Woanyah explained that a letter circulating online was doctored. The original letter, submitted in August 2020, only mentioned withdrawing from the parliamentary primary race.
He noted that Prof Dzakadzie did not mention resigning from the party in this letter. Instead, he wished the party well, which raises questions about his intentions.
In the original letter, Prof Dzakadzie wrote: “I do not intend to contest as a candidate in the parliamentary primaries in Anlo Constituency anymore.”
The altered version claimed he was resigning from the party as well. Woanyah argued that this shows an attempt to mislead for political gain with the NDC.
He also questioned why President Akufo-Addo appointed Prof Dzakadzie to key positions if he had resigned in 2020.
Woanyah expressed disappointment at Prof Dzakadzie's actions after receiving such appointments. He urged him to stop these "mischievous acts" that could damage his reputation and career.
