Professor Lord Mensah has been appointed as the new Head of Local Government. He is a Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Ghana Business School.
Professor Mensah has a strong academic background. He holds a PhD in Applied Economics-Finance from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He also earned an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Additionally, he has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from KNUST.
He brings significant international experience to his new role. Professor Mensah has presented papers at major finance and economics conferences worldwide. These include events in Portugal, the U.S., South Africa, Vietnam, France, and Singapore.
His research is widely cited and indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Beyond academia, he has consulted for notable institutions like the Central Bank of Nigeria and UNDP.
He also serves as Executive Director of the African Centre for Development Finance. Professor Mensah is well-known in Ghana’s financial discussions across media platforms.
His appointment aims to enhance financial expertise within local government systems. This could impact fiscal decentralization and development financing in Ghana.
