Prof. Opoku-Agyemang chairs Armed Forces Council - Ghanaian Times

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is now the first female Chairperson of the Ghana Armed Forces Council. President John Dramani Mahama inaugurated the council.

The Vice President leads a seven-member Council. This group provides strategic direction and policy guidance for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). The inauguration took place on Monday at the Ministry of Defence in Accra.

Other council members include Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, Minister for the Interior. Additional members are Mr. Daniel Addo, Mr. Fuseini Iddrisu, and Madam Nancy Dakwa Ampofo.

The Council advises the President on military strategy and budgeting. It also oversees administration and promotions for officers above Lieutenant-Colonel rank, as mandated by the 1992 Constitution.
