Prof. Peter Atudiwe Atupare has been appointed the new Dean of the University of Ghana School of Law. His appointment starts on August 1, 2025. This was announced in a memorandum from Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, the Registrar.
Prof. Atupare is a respected law teacher and currently heads the Department of Public Law at the University of Ghana Law School. He will succeed Prof. Raymond A. Atuguba in this role.
Before joining the University of Ghana, Prof. Atupare served as Dean at the Faculty of Law, University of Cape Coast.
Biography of Prof. Atupare
Prof. Atupare has impressive qualifications as a lawyer and academic.
He earned his Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law in 2013. He holds a PhD in Law from Queen’s University, Canada (2011). He also has an LL.M (Thesis Option) from Queen’s University (2008). Additionally, he obtained an M.A. in Comparative Politics from Brock University (2007). He completed his L.L.B at the University of Ghana in 2006 and received a B.A in Political Science from there in 2003.
His expertise includes Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Human Rights, Private International Law, Torts, Jurisprudence, and Legal Ethics.
Prof. Atupare has conducted significant research on various legal topics including Constitutional Law and Human Rights. His work has gained him international recognition and respect within academia.
He is also a well-published author in the field of law.
