Professor Boateng urges EOCO, CHRAJ, OSP, and CSOs to visit SML, calls for independent, fact-based reflection on strategic national innovation

Professor Douglas Boateng, an industrial strategist, has called for action. He urged EOCO, CHRAJ, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to assess Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

He made this call during a strategy dialogue. He highlighted the importance of the SML-fused data platform for Ghana and Africa.

“Let us not critique what we do not understand,” he said. “Let us not dismiss innovation before visiting its engine room.” He believes Ghana faces a generational opportunity.

The SML-fused platform is more than just technology. It is a strategic national asset that ensures real-time revenue assurance. It also helps reduce systemic leakages in a key sector.

“By 2028, Ghana could see measurable financial improvements,” he explained. This could boost domestic infrastructure investment and lessen reliance on IMF bailouts.

Professor Boateng emphasized understanding the platform’s risk-reward framework. The focus should be on its sustainability and long-term value.

He encouraged CSOs, regulators, and anti-corruption agencies to engage constructively. “A nation that does not account for its wealth will always count loans,” he warned.

“Let our conclusions be based on evidence, not assumptions.” He concluded by urging Ghana to both harvest and account for its resources.
