Prosecution of Ofori-Atta by OSP not ‘payback’ – Edem Agbana

Edem Agbana, the MP for Ketu North, has dismissed claims about Ken Ofori-Atta. He argues that the prosecution is not politically motivated. Instead, it focuses on accountability and due process.

Ofori-Atta is on the Office of the Special Prosecutor's watch list. He also appears on an Interpol red notice. His lawyers claim he is receiving medical treatment in the United States.

Agbana's comments come amid public discussions about the investigation. Some believe it may be driven by political retribution. However, Agbana insists that all public officials must be held accountable.

He spoke on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on June 7, 2025. Agbana emphasized that the investigation should not be seen as political revenge.

He noted that ministers under John Dramani Mahama were also investigated. Kojo Twum Boafo faced significant scrutiny during his time as FIC boss.

Agbana questioned if anyone claimed those investigations were meant to embarrass him. He stated, "It is never payback time; it is about accountability."

He urged Ofori-Atta to present himself for due process to occur. "Nobody is interested in either paying back or embarrassing anyone," he added.

Frank Davies labeled OSP's denial of Ofori-Atta's medical report a "blatant falsehood."
