A lecturer in Political Science at the University of Ghana is disappointed. He reacted to comments from NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong. Frimpong suggested the party is focused on a drug trafficking scandal. This focus comes at the expense of internal party matters involving Adwoa Safo.
In an interview on Joy FM's Top Story, Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante spoke out. He acknowledged the importance of the drug trafficking saga. However, he insisted that issues surrounding Adwoa Safo are also critical.
“I am not happy with the statement from the NPP General Secretary,” he said. “They said they were more interested in the alleged cocaine story.” He added that while this issue is important, so is Safo’s situation.
Dr. Asah-Asante argued for full disclosure on all national interest matters. This includes actions by public office holders and their conduct.
He urged the NPP to address both issues transparently. The alleged drug trafficking incident and Adwoa Safo's disciplinary concerns deserve attention.
“The public has the right to know what happens within politics,” he stated. “We want to understand what is happening.” He emphasized that both issues are equally important to citizens.
He called for a logical conclusion from the party regarding these matters. Those making allegations must provide necessary information for clarity.
His comments followed Frimpong's announcement about postponing a meeting with Adwoa Safo. The postponement was due to the seriousness of the drug trafficking scandal. Frimpong indicated that questioning government on this matter takes priority over internal politics involving Safo.
