Pupil-teacher jailed 10 years for incest

Mr. Edward Ekuadzi, 36, is a pupil teacher in Aflao. He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for incest. His victim is his 17-year-old daughter.

Ekuadzi appeared before the Denu Circuit Court on May 2, 2025. He pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

The prosecution presented the case through Madam Christy Kwau. She is a trader and the mother of the victim, whose name is withheld. The parents are divorced, and the victim lived with her father since infancy.

On April 22, 2025, at about 10:00 am, the victim visited her mother in Sepenukope. She refused to return home to her father.

When questioned, she revealed disturbing details. In March and again on April 17, Ekuadzi had sexually assaulted her in their living room. He threatened her not to tell anyone or she would "risk dying."

Madam Kwau reported the incident to Aflao Police Station. A medical examination was arranged for the victim.

Ekuadzi was arrested on April 30, 2025. During interrogation, he confessed to having sex with his daughter three times.

At the time of his conviction, he worked as a teacher at a private school in Ketu South Municipality.

According to Section 105 of Act 29: A male over age 16 who has sexual relations with his daughter commits a crime. The punishment ranges from three to twenty-five years in prison.
