Raid on former BoG's home: Addison hasn't lodged complaint about anything missing - Deputy AG

The Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, has dismissed claims that National Security operatives stole money and jewellery during a raid. This raid took place at the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.

On March 24, Dr. Srem-Sai spoke on JoyNews PM Express. He noted that Dr. Addison has not filed any official complaint about missing items. He called the allegations made by the Minority in Parliament baseless.

Dr. Srem-Sai explained that if something is lost, it should be reported to the police first. He stated that no reports have been made regarding this incident. "These are bare allegations with no basis," he said.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin accused National Security operatives of taking GH₵10,000 and jewellery from Dr. Addison’s wife during the raid. However, Dr. Srem-Sai rejected these claims as attempts to ridicule officials doing their jobs.

He criticized the Minority's comments about those conducting the search, calling them "hungry boys looking for food." He urged the Minority to avoid such statements in the future.

Dr. Srem-Sai emphasized that if Dr. Addison has grievances, he should file an official complaint himself. "We can only investigate when he makes a complaint," he added. Third parties making unverified accusations do not help resolve issues effectively.
