A severe rainstorm hit Akatsi South in the Volta Region on Sunday. Many people have lost their homes due to the disaster.
Residents described the storm as “strange and dangerous.” It destroyed shops, houses, electric poles, and institutions.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited affected areas. They observed that many houses and shops were damaged or collapsed.
The storm began around 6 PM on March 30, 2025. It also uprooted large trees and caused injuries to some residents.
Affected residents shared their frustrations with GNA. They feel helpless and are asking for immediate support.
One resident said they need roofing sheets and iron rods to rebuild.
Mr. Daniel Dagba, the MCE nominee for Akatsi South, is advocating for government assistance. He assured residents that help from the local Member of Parliament is coming.
