Ras Mubarak, a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has attributed the violent clash in Obuasi to Onua TV, accusing the station of enabling incitement through its platform.
Mubarak criticized the media outlet for promoting lawlessness under the guise of free speech, emphasizing the need for discipline in public discourse.
His remarks followed allegations that Captain Smart, a presenter on Onua TV, incited illegal miners to invade AngloGold Ashanti's concession.
In a viral video, Captain Smart reportedly urged the youth of Obuasi to seize the mine's resources, sparking concerns about the broadcaster’s role in the chaos.
The incident, which led to eight deaths, has intensified calls for accountability and stricter oversight of media platforms to prevent further acts of lawlessness.
