Labour Minister-Designate Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo has endorsed the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) proposed 24-hour economy as a game-changing policy for job creation and economic growth.
Speaking during his vetting in Parliament on January 30, he emphasized that the initiative, championed by President John Mahama, is designed to extend economic activities beyond the usual 8-to-5 schedule.
Under this framework, industries will operate in three shifts, ensuring continuous productivity while addressing youth unemployment and improving wages.
Pelpuo clarified that the policy is not about merely increasing work hours but ensuring fair compensation for workers’ contributions.
He affirmed that the 24-hour economy would maximize Ghana’s workforce potential, drive economic expansion, and secure better livelihoods for employees.
