Raymond Archer should know better – Martin Kpebu fires

Martin Kpebu, a private lawyer, has criticized Raymond Archer. Archer is the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Kpebu believes EOCO mishandled the case against Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi. He stated that EOCO should have informed Ghanaians about Wontumi's charges by now.

Kpebu emphasized that Archer, being a journalist, should understand the importance of information. He expressed this opinion during an appearance on TV3’s Key Points. Kpebu said, “EOCO has not handled the process properly.”

Chairman Wontumi was arrested after visiting the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on May 27. He was granted bail of GH₵50 million with two sureties on May 28. However, his legal team had not met all conditions for his release.

The Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem-Sai, revealed that Wontumi is under investigation for fraud and money laundering. He also mentioned an investigation into an international organized crime scheme involving Wontumi.

Justice Srem-Sai noted that EOCO is working with international law enforcement partners on this case. The ongoing investigation includes efforts to recover assets suspected to be from criminal activities.

In a post on X, Justice Srem-Sai wrote about Wontumi's various criminal offenses. He stated that asset recovery processes are underway to prevent further loss of suspected proceeds of crime.
