The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) reports a rise in drug-related interceptions. This includes several cocaine busts that show improved operations.
Recently, NACOC arrested multiple individuals linked to suspected cocaine. The latest incident happened on Wednesday, April 23. Four Ghanaian nationals were caught after a cargo shipment was intercepted at Swiss Port.
Authorities found seventy-three slabs of a concealed substance. This substance is believed to be cocaine and weighs about 89.74 kilograms. The shipment was set for export to the Netherlands.
In an interview with Citi FM's Eyewitness News, Alexander Twum Barimah spoke about these developments. He is the Deputy Director General of NACOC. He addressed public concerns regarding the scale of these busts.
Barimah noted that the arrests reflect better oversight and leadership within NACOC. "We now have quality leaders actively working to ensure proper actions," he stated.
He added, "These arrests confirm our efforts are effective." He emphasized that drug traffickers no longer have it easy as before. NACOC is committed to keeping drugs off the borders with dedicated leadership.
