Isaac Yaw Ofosu is recovering from drug addiction. He shared his inspiring journey and thanked the Church of Pentecost for their help.
At 14, Mr. Ofosu began using drugs. He became addicted to marijuana, tramadol, cigarettes, and alcohol. This addiction lasted over twenty years. His life was filled with pain, isolation, and hopelessness.
What started as fun turned into a serious habit. It harmed his body and weakened his immune system. He wanted to quit but found it difficult.
Mr. Ofosu said, “My dad sold weed and my mom sold alcohol.” He began using drugs without understanding the consequences. He mingled with bad influences in his neighborhood. Eventually, he realized his actions were wrong but struggled to stop.
As the youngest child, his parents did not expect this behavior from him. When he started using drugs, he didn’t know he could become addicted.
Fortunately, members of the Church of Pentecost helped him. They took him to a rehab center where he stayed for a year.
Mr. Ofosu expressed gratitude: “God bless them so much for their support.”
Dr. Albert Sedohia explained that addiction is manageable but not curable. He stated that recovery is a lifelong process.
Everyone hopes Mr. Ofosu will stay committed during his recovery and avoid relapse as he starts a new chapter in life.
