Ghana is focusing more on STEM education, robotics, and technical skills. This shift is leading to impressive results. Young innovators are making a mark globally.
Redeemer Tech, the robotics team from My Redeemer School, achieved a double victory. Both its Senior and Junior teams became national champions at the AI for Good – Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Ghana Edition.
The competition took place on March 22, 2025, at Academic City University. It featured top robotics teams from across Ghana. They showcased advanced solutions in artificial intelligence and automation.
The event was organized by The MakersPlace with support from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the UN's AI for Good initiative. This year's challenge focused on disaster response.
Teams developed robotic solutions for real-world emergencies. Their projects aimed to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Redeemer Tech outperformed strong competitors like Adisadel College and Koforidua Secondary Technical School. They presented AI-powered innovations for early disaster detection and search-and-rescue operations. Their projects impressed judges with both technical precision and humanitarian focus.
Douglas Ayitey, Founder of The MakersPlace, praised the talent displayed at the event. He said, "This year’s competition showcased creativity and skill among students in Ghana." He expressed pride in how young Ghanaians are using technology to tackle global challenges.
As national champions, Redeemer Tech will represent Ghana at the Global Grand Finale in May 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. This international summit will gather winning teams worldwide to present their solutions.
My Redeemer School's success reflects its commitment to STEM education. Robotics and coding were introduced at Grade 1 five years ago. This foundation equips students with skills needed for global competition.
The 2025 Robotics for Good Challenge welcomed students nationwide. It emphasized technical expertise along with teamwork, creativity, and real-world impact.
Congratulations to all participating teams for their dedication! Best wishes to Redeemer Tech as they prepare to showcase Ghana’s innovation in Geneva.
