Reduce fares or face sanctions – GPRTU to non-complaint drivers

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has issued a warning.

Transport stations and branches must comply with the new 15% fare reduction.

Sanctions will be imposed on those who do not follow this directive.

Godfred Abulbire, GPRTU's General Secretary, addressed the issue.

He noted that some operators in the Ashanti Region are delaying adjustments.

They cited late communication as their reason for non-compliance.

Abulbire assured that measures are in place for full compliance.

He stated, "The chairman has sent another press release."

He added that by tomorrow, non-compliant stations will face sanctions.

One major penalty is preventing non-compliant drivers from loading passengers.

Abulbire said, "Drivers dislike being stopped from loading."

This fare reduction was introduced due to declining fuel prices.

Authorities expect transport operators to adjust their fares accordingly.

While some have complied, others resist due to operational costs.
