President John Mahama thanked the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU). They decided to reduce lorry fares by 15 percent.
This reduction follows a drop in fuel prices. The cedi has appreciated against major currencies, especially the US dollar.
The President praised those who lowered prices for their products and services. He spoke at the 2025 Ghana CEOs Summit in Accra.
He said, “Thank you very much, GPRTU. For those who haven't responded yet, please pass on some of the cedi appreciation to Ghanaians.”
Orca Deco Ghana also announced a 15 percent price cut on all products. This will take effect on Monday, May 12.
The President emphasized that it is time to lift the gloom. He wants to restore confidence and rebuild.
He reiterated that Ghana is open for business again.
“Let this summit mark a new compact between public and private sectors,” he stated.
“This compact should involve mutual accountability, shared risks, and shared rewards.”
“Together we can reset Ghana’s economy and build a prosperous future for our people.”
