The Regional Maritime University (RMU) is hosting the 2025 Educational and Career Fair. This event is in partnership with the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA). It will take place on April 8-9. The theme is "Guiding Tomorrow’s Leaders to Career Choices in the Maritime Industry."
The fair aims to showcase RMU’s offerings. It will also encourage interactions among students, faculty, and industry experts. Dr. Eric Duncan, Chairman of the Planning Committee, spoke about the event's goals. He emphasized collaboration between RMU and various stakeholders.
Participants can engage in discussions and exchange ideas. They may establish networking connections that could lead to future opportunities in maritime careers. Dr. Duncan invited corporate entities and educational institutions to join the fair.
A keynote address will be given by Magdalene Ofori-Addai, a notable Maritime Administrator. She will discuss the evolving maritime industry and its impact on future leaders. Other prominent speakers will address important topics related to maritime and environmental issues.
Madam Ogbugo, a Maritime Associate and Climate Champion, will present on Africa's role in climate change efforts. Mr. Richmond Kennedy Quarcoo from Plastic Punch will analyze environmental pollution in Ghana. He will focus on practical solutions for reducing waste in maritime settings.
Dr. Isaac Owusu-Nyarko from RMU will discuss the university’s Solar Farm project. He will explore its potential for sustainable energy solutions in the maritime sector.
The RMU Vocational Skills Training Center (VSTC) will also make a special presentation at the fair. This center plays a key role in equipping students with relevant skills for industry jobs.
Exhibitions from the RMU Alumni Association and various industry leaders are planned as well. These exhibitions will showcase advancements in the maritime sector.
A highlight of the fair is recognizing individuals who have significantly contributed to RMU's growth and success in maritime education.
Guest Speaker Ofori-Addai expressed her optimism about this initiative for young people, especially girls. She believes it introduces them to diverse opportunities within the maritime industry.
With over 100 expected participants from schools and companies, this fair promises vibrant learning experiences, networking opportunities, and career development prospects.
