Remittance inflows, economic momentum to strengthen Cedi in 2025 – Black Stars Advisors

Adjei Boateng, CFA, is the Chief Investment Officer at Black Stars Advisors. He has a positive outlook for the Ghanaian cedi in 2025. He believes the cedi could appreciate against major currencies for the first time in over 20 years.

His projection follows a recent rebound of the cedi against the US dollar, euro, and British pound. This performance has sparked optimism about the currency's stability.

On May 12, Mr. Boateng spoke on The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV. He attributed the positive trend to improved foreign inflows and better macroeconomic management. He also mentioned seasonal patterns that help the cedi in the last quarter of the year.

“Quarter 4 is important,” he explained. Many people abroad send money home during this time. They also come to spend money, boosting economic activity.

Mr. Boateng noted that remittances and holiday spending support the cedi’s performance in this period. “Historically, this has been quite positive,” he said.

His comments reflect growing market confidence in the cedi. This confidence comes from Ghana’s efforts to stabilize its economy and attract foreign investment.
