Reprimand Sammy Gyamfi, rather than sacking him – Victoria Hamah to Mahama

Victoria Hamah, the former Deputy Communications Minister, has spoken out. She urged President John Dramani Mahama to keep Sammy Gyamfi in his position. Gyamfi is the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

Hamah believes that Gyamfi's actions upset many Ghanaians. However, she thinks a reprimand is better than dismissal. In a social media post, she stated that a formal reprimand is more appropriate.

She emphasized the need for accountability and mentorship. Her recommendation aims for balanced judgment in this situation.

Sammy Gyamfi faced criticism after a video surfaced online. The video showed him giving large sums of money to Patricia Asiedua, known as Nana Agradaa. In the viral clip, Gyamfi was seen with his white Range Rover and Nana Agradaa.

After talking briefly, he sat in his car and counted US dollars. Nana Agradaa insisted he give her all the money instead of just some. She then took all the cash from him and flaunted it to bystanders.

Gyamfi later apologized publicly for his actions. He explained that he intended to help someone in need privately. He regretted that this act of kindness became public knowledge.

Ellen Ama Ofosuaa Daaku from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) responded to Gyamfi's situation. She argued that he should be dismissed like Victoria Hamah was before. Daaku recalled how President Mahama previously disciplined members of his party.

She mentioned Hamah’s dismissal after a controversial recording surfaced about her political ambitions.
