Residents of Nsuokyire protest illegal mining along Tano river

Residents of Nsuokyire in the Aowin District are upset. They confronted illegal miners camped along the Tano River.

The residents fear that mining will cause flooding in their communities. They have vowed to stop any mining activities along the river.

In response, they set fire to the miners' camps. They demanded that the miners leave immediately.

This action followed a viral video from Green Gold TV. The video showed illegal miners taking over the Tano Numre Forest and polluting the Tano River.

Chinese miners have reportedly taken control of parts of the riverbank. This has led to contamination of this vital water source.

Despite multiple reports by JoyNews, no significant action has been taken.
