Resolve Ablekuma North collation impasse now – IGP to EC

Inspector General of Police, Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has made a request. He urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to provide a formal roadmap. This roadmap is for the National Election Security Taskforce. It aims to conclude the long-pending collation of parliamentary results in Ablekuma North.

Dr. Yohuno addressed the press on Monday. He expressed concern over the delay in results collation. He warned that this uncertainty affects more than one constituency's outcome.

“The EC must provide a roadmap for formalising the collation,” he stated. He stressed the need for quick action to maintain public trust in Ghana’s democracy.

He described this situation as “a pivotal moment.” The IGP noted that how they handle this process could impact national sentiment. It may also affect the credibility of future elections.

“The way we handle this will resonate across the country,” he said. It will set the tone for this election and future public confidence.

Dr. Yohuno appealed to all stakeholders, especially the EC. He emphasized ensuring both physical security and integrity of election materials.

“Let us secure not just ballot boxes but also belief in our system,” he concluded. “We must protect lives and uphold democracy.”
