Respect the judiciary if you want peace to govern – NPP warns NDC

Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a warning to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). He urged them to stop their attacks on the judiciary. He believes these attacks threaten peace and effective governance.

In an interview on Joy FM's Top Story, he expressed concern about ongoing criticism of the judiciary. He sees this as a troubling pattern under the NDC administration.

Boakye stated that with the NDC controlling both the executive and legislative branches, any influence on the judiciary is dangerous. He called it a direct threat to Ghana’s democracy.

He said, “If that is how they want to govern—by attacking the judiciary while holding power, then they must be reminded this is an attack on democracy.” He added that such actions will not be tolerated.

He warned that if the NDC wants peace to govern, they should not sponsor any attacks on the judiciary.

Boakye accused the NDC of creating a hostile environment for judges just four months into their term. Despite receiving strong support from voters, he believes they are already disappointing many Ghanaians.

He pointed out that large crowds attended an NPP-led demonstration against suspending the Chief Justice. This shows growing frustration with the new administration.

“Barely five months in, massive crowds are expressing disappointment,” he noted. If the NDC continues this behavior, he promised a response from his party.

He emphasized that undermining judicial independence threatens democratic governance itself. Boakye indicated that the NPP will soon announce events addressing these concerns.
