Retired seafarer murdered by hired herdsman in Tadzewu

The peaceful town of Tadzewu is in mourning after a brutal killing. Carson Fogah Ladzekpo, a retired seafarer and cattle farmer, was found dead. He was buried in his own cattle kraal. A Fulani herdsman he employed is the prime suspect.

Mr. Ladzekpo returned to Tadzewu ten years ago after his maritime career. He was last seen on Thursday, May 22, 2025. He was with cattle dealers who wanted to buy three bulls. Concern grew when he did not return home.

A search party of local youth and elders found his body early Friday morning. It was buried in the kraal where his livestock were kept. Police have arrested the suspect, who was hiding nearby.

An investigation is underway, causing outrage and sorrow in the community. Local leaders and Mr. Ladzekpo's family demand swift action. They want a full investigation and maximum punishment for the perpetrator.

They also seek involvement from National Security and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). “Tadzewu is in tears,” said Torgbui Eya Agblohu II, Dufia of Tadzewu. “We need answers—we need justice.” Authorities assure the public that justice will be served as investigations continue.
