Revealed – 33 corruption cases being prepared against former Akufo-Addo appointees

President John Dramani Mahama announced that 33 corruption cases are being prepared against appointees of Akufo-Addo.

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice is building these cases. They involve corruption and related offenses from the previous government. Mahama revealed this during a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at Jubilee House.

He stated that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team identified these cases after the 2024 election. Special investigative teams have been created to look into each case. Some investigations found evidence of properties bought with illicit wealth.

Mahama assured the public that he will not interfere in any investigations. He emphasized that he would not influence anti-corruption agencies, even regarding former officials. The ORAL team submitted their final report on February 10, 2025.

Mahama directed the Attorney General to take further actions based on this report. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, chairman of ORAL, mentioned that Ghana could recover $20.49 billion from just 36 cases. He added that every pesewa recovered will go back into national development.
