The Okada Riders Association has fiercely rejected a new law barring persons under 25 from operating commercial motorcycles.
Speaking on GHOne TV, the group’s Public Relations Officer, Solomon Akpanaba, blasted the government for sidelining key stakeholders and warned of looming legal and political repercussions if the policy isn’t scrapped.
“Why must someone who voted at 18 wait till 25 to work?” he questioned, calling the age limit discriminatory and illogical.
Akpanaba said the association is prepared to hit the streets, sue the government, or use its numbers to make a statement at the polls.
He accused authorities of disrespecting the intelligence of riders and stressed that their opposition is grounded in data, not sentiment.
“We will not accept this injustice,” he declared.
