Some executives, members, and foot soldiers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed strong opposition to President John Mahama’s appointment of Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong as Acting Chief of Air Staff.
Citing past incidents, they accuse him of openly working against Mahama’s campaign and lacking the loyalty expected for such a key role.
Some allege that Agyen-Frempong even mobilized thugs against Mahama’s supporters during the elections.
The appointment, part of a broader military shake-up effective March 24, 2025, has sparked calls for its immediate withdrawal.
Critics argue that rewarding perceived political adversaries could undermine party unity.
Despite the backlash, President Mahama has defended the appointments as necessary for strengthening Ghana’s military leadership.
