Roads Minister urges cooperation on compensation as Kasoa–Cape Coast highway nears completion

Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwame Governs Agbodza, has made an appeal. He asked residents and chiefs along the Kasoa–Cape Coast–Takoradi highway to cooperate with the government. This cooperation is important for compensation issues as road construction progresses.

During a tour of road projects in the Central Region, Mr. Agbodza spoke to affected property owners. He urged them to accept government compensation in good faith. He emphasized that this cooperation is vital for successful road projects.

In an interview with Nana Tawiah, the Minister assured residents of the NDC government's commitment. He stated they will fix all deprived roads listed in the national budget. Work on the Kasoa–Winneba–Cape Coast road is nearing completion.

Mr. Agbodza mentioned that several critical road projects will soon start in the region. Despite losing revenue sources like the e-levy and betting taxes, funding is secured for these projects. He called for patience and trust in President John Dramani Mahama's NDC government.

“The people of the Central Region should have confidence in us,” he said. “We will not turn our backs on them regarding road development.” The Minister also promised timely payments to contractors so they can resume work.

He blamed unpaid debts from the previous NPP administration for local contractors abandoning their work. In related news, District Chief Executive Mr. Andrews Kojo Duodu reassured his residents about government plans for roads.

He and MP Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson are working closely with President Mahama on this agenda. Hon. Duodu criticized the NPP government for not constructing significant roads in their district. Most existing roads were built under previous NDC administrations.

He noted that poor road conditions have hurt farmers and drivers, causing food waste due to inaccessibility. “Under this NDC government, we will fix the roads,” he assured residents. “Farmers and drivers will no longer suffer; real development is coming to Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.”
