The minister expressed concern about heavy-duty trucks. These trucks carry raw materials like bauxite and manganese. They use the road instead of the rail line.
"This is a challenge," he said. "It affects our roads' lifespan and our railway system."
Mr. Agboadza noted that the contractor faces many challenges. These include non-payment and issues with certificates raised. He assured that these challenges will be resolved.
Ing. Kofi Adjei Frimpong, a consultant for Comptran Engineering, briefed the Road Minister. He stated that JUSTMOH has no issues with construction materials. They continue to work despite payment delays.
He mentioned inadequate funds for compensation as a difficulty. The outstanding compensation for affected residents is about GH¢35 million.
“One significant hope for this project is recycling asphalt,” he added. “We do not have problems with construction materials so far.”
Dr. Justice Amoh, CEO of Justmoh Construction Limited, explained the project's status. It is about 51% complete, exceeding the planned schedule of 47.10%.
“Soon, the rains will come, and we need to cover much ground,” he said. He urged road users to exercise patience during this time.
He also highlighted challenges such as non-payment of contractors and compensation issues for affected persons.
In response, Minister Agbodza assured Justmoh that payment issues would be resolved soon.
