The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for suspects. They are responsible for the fatal shooting of two police officers. This incident occurred at Poyamirea, near Binduri in the Upper East Region.
On April 13, 2025, Assistant Commissioner Grace Ansah-Akrofi issued a statement. The police confirmed the incident and assured the public of their efforts to find the culprits.
“The Ghana Police Service is on a manhunt to identify and arrest robbers,” the statement said. The officers were shot while off-duty and riding a private motorbike.
Initial investigations show that the officers were not in uniform. They were traveling from Bongo to Binduri when they were attacked. Their motorbike was taken during the incident.
The identities of the officers have not been released yet. The Police Service is working to notify their families according to tradition.
“The names of the officers have been withheld as we notify their families,” said the police.
The Police Administration expressed condolences to those affected by this tragedy. They extended sympathies to bereaved families and colleagues of the fallen officers.
“Our hearts and prayers are with you,” stated the administration.
The police reassured the public that they will catch those responsible for this crime. “We will ensure that perpetrators face justice,” concluded their statement.
