Rotational nurses and midwives to strike on June 2

The Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana plans a nationwide strike. This strike will start on June 2, 2025. They are protesting the government's failure to pay their allowances.

The Association states that members are owed 12 months of unpaid allowances. They describe this situation as untenable. Despite giving a 14-working-day ultimatum, they received no response from the government.

Ebenezer Boateng, the Association’s President, expressed frustration over their neglect. He said, “The minister has not communicated officially to us.” He added that they feel insignificant in the health sector and to the public.

Boateng confirmed they will proceed with the strike if no action is taken. “On June 2, we are going on a nationwide strike,” he stated. He emphasized that they do not want any more empty assurances.

The Association feels it has no choice but to withdraw services. They demand concrete steps to resolve these payment delays.
