Ruling on Ofori-Atta's motion against OSP's 'Wanted' declaration adjourned to June 18

The Human Rights Court has postponed a ruling to June 18. This ruling concerns a motion from former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Ofori-Atta's motion aims to stop the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from calling him a "wanted person" or a "fugitive from justice."

He wants the court to prevent the OSP from labeling him publicly as a fugitive. He argues that these labels violate his human rights, including personal liberty and freedom of movement.

Additionally, Ofori-Atta seeks an order for the OSP to remove previous declarations from its social media and website. He claims these posts harm his reputation, despite assurances that he was temporarily removed from the wanted list.

The OSP, led by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, opposes the motion. They argue their actions were lawful due to Ofori-Atta’s failure to appear for questioning in corruption investigations.

In February 2025, the OSP declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive because he was absent from Ghana for medical reasons without a return date. However, after negotiations, his name was temporarily removed when he agreed to appear before the OSP on June 2, 2025.
