SHOCKING – 16-year-old SHS student arrested with firearm

A 16-year-old student from Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School has been arrested. He was found with a locally manufactured firearm without permission.

The arrest happened during a routine dormitory search on May 14, 2025. School authorities discovered the firearm during this search.

The student was taken to the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command for investigation. During questioning, he claimed the firearm belonged to his stepfather, Mr. Daniel Owusu Baafi. The stepfather has also been arrested by the police.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo shared this information on May 18. Both the student and his stepfather have received police enquiry bail. They must report back to authorities on May 19, 2025, for further investigation.

This incident follows a similar case at Adventist SHS last month. In that case, a female student was accidentally shot in the eye by a male colleague using a locally made pistol.
