SHS students donate GHs100k towards care of victim of Adventist SHS shooting

Students from Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region donated 100,000 cedis. This money will help pay for surgery for a female student. She was shot in the eye by a classmate at Adventist Senior High School in Kumasi.

The Regional Executive Council of the Students' Representative Council organized the fundraising. They received support from school administrators across the region.

Along with the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools, they set up a voluntary donation drive. This allowed students to contribute to the cause.

Members of CHASS visited the victim and assured her of their support. They promised to help with her healthcare needs.

James Acheampong, president of ARSRC, said students were eager to donate. He noted that many were moved by the situation and contributed generously. Some gave as much as 100 cedis, while others donated five cedis each.

Suzzy Pinamang, who was shot in the eye, has lost vision in both eyes. Doctors at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital recommend surgery due to severe injuries.

Rev. Dr. Stephen Owusu Sekyere leads CHASS and urges parents to help prevent contraband items at school. He asks parents to thoroughly check their children’s belongings before school.

The government supports frequent searches of student luggage on campus. CHASS is committed to this mandate and encourages students to report dangerous items found among peers.

Meanwhile, Suzzy's family is grateful for the students' generous donations and support during this difficult time.
