SML sues Manasseh Azure Awuni over ‘defamatory’ claims in book

Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has filed a lawsuit against investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni over alleged defamatory remarks regarding its contracts with the Government of Ghana (GoG) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

According to a High Court writ published in the Ghanaian Times on February 21, 2024, SML claims Manasseh has made continuous defamatory statements since December 2023, including in Chapter 28 of his book, The President Ghana Never Got, titled *The Mother of All Scandals*.

The company argues that the chapter falsely portrays SML as a criminal entity, without basis.

SML is seeking an injunction to stop further publications, a retraction, and an apology.

It insists its contracts operate on a risk-reward model and have been executed with integrity and transparency.
