SUDEF Ghana donates sanitary pads, educates students on menstrual hygiene in Duayaw Nkwanta

This year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day saw SUDEF Ghana donate sanitary pads. The recipients were female students from seven junior high schools in Duayaw Nkwanta, Ahafo Region.

The donation aims to help girls whose families cannot afford menstrual products. Along with the pads, SUDEF Ghana held educational sessions on menstrual hygiene.

Rev. John Baidoo, CEO of SUDEF Ghana, spoke to CTV and Accra FM. He said the initiative supports the government’s efforts for female students' welfare.

He emphasized that menstrual hygiene is a basic right, not a privilege. Rev. Baidoo expressed SUDEF's readiness to partner with government agencies and NGOs.

Dr. Gustav M. Osiakwan also spoke at the event. He is the Bono Ahafo Regional Director of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency. Dr. Osiakwan urged teachers and parents to teach proper menstrual hygiene practices.

He highlighted its importance for young girls' health and confidence. Dr. Osiakwan praised the government's support for female students. He called on stakeholders to promote menstrual health education and access to hygiene products.
