Sacrifice is the price of lasting political bonds – Mustapha Gbande to NDC youth

Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made an important call to young party members. He urged them to lead with humility, foresight, and discipline.

In a statement titled “Making Good Use of the Power We Hold,” he emphasized that political power is a test of character. He stated, “This is not merely a victory; it is a responsibility.” Leadership should be viewed as a privilege given by the people, not as an entitlement.

Mr. Gbande shared eight lessons for NDC appointees. These lessons aim to help them navigate their roles responsibly and prepare for life after politics. He advised members to stay professionally ready and maintain credibility.

He highlighted the importance of having up-to-date personal documentation. “A well-prepared CV should be part of your daily arsenal,” he said. You never know when opportunity will arise.

He encouraged young members to seek opportunities with clarity and purpose. “Don’t just forward your CV; send it directly where opportunities exist,” he advised.

Mr. Gbande stressed that personal conduct is vital for long-term success. Humility, emotional intelligence, and strategic communication are essential traits. “Let your presence reflect wisdom and dependability,” he counseled.

He warned against public outbursts and entitlement on social media. Members should use digital platforms responsibly. “Avoid broadcasting your frustrations,” he cautioned.

Reflecting on his journey in political mentorship, Mr. Gbande urged youth to invest in relationships and character-building. “Build meaningful relationships and earn goodwill before aspiring to lead,” he said.

He concluded with a reminder about the fleeting nature of political power: “Power is fleeting; politics is not destiny.” Life may not be fair, but wisdom and hard work can help you succeed.
