The demolition at the Sakumono Ramsar site started on Tuesday, May 27. It has been temporarily halted due to concerns from machine owners.
Officials noted that the equipment was too lightweight for the high-rise structures. The machines also ran low on fuel, causing further delays.
This situation led to a confrontation between demolition coordinators and the Chinese machine owners. The owners were worried about potential damage and fuel shortages.
Ahmed Rufai, Deputy Director-General of NADMO, spoke to the media. He assured that the demolition will resume on Wednesday, May 28.
He confirmed plans are in place to refuel the machines and resolve logistical issues. The work began around noon but stopped at approximately 3:12 p.m.
